If you’re looking for ways to save a few bucks off your monthly budget, start by evaluating your coffee routine. If you’re getting your morning cup (or afternoon pick-me-up) out every day, those costs can add up.
And now, there are multiple ways to add variety to your coffee, if that’s what you desire, and there are also extremely convenient ways that will give you your coffee with the push of a button.
Corning Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing has a look at five ways to make your morning coffee so good that you’ll never want to get it outside of the house again!
- Drip Coffee
This is the traditional method that’s easy, convenient, and not too expensive, depending on the beans or grounds you’re buying. The only trick is to know how much coffee grounds to add with the amount of water you’re using. The most common recipe is 2 tablespoons of grounds per cup of water, but it may take a little trial and error to find the combination to your liking.
This is a manual version of the drip method. Premoisten a paper filter, add grounds, and pour hot water over it. But you’ll need patience and a steady hand to make this work, as you can’t pour quickly.
- Cold Brew
Cold brew is a method that’s increased in popularity recently. You can buy a device with a built-in filter to do this or add grounds to water and let it sit overnight, but you’ll have to filter it when you pour it.
- French Press
This is a traditional method that’s gained popularity recently as well. You’ll need a press for this, but you can make a few cups at a time by steeping the grounds in hot water and then pressing the grounds to the bottom, leaving you with a smooth cup of joe.
The ultimate in convenience will also be the most expensive do-it-yourself coffee, but single-serving pods allow you to brew just one cup with the push of a button. The other benefit of this is that you can sample a variety of brands and flavors one cup at a time.
